Installation of liquid or gas flow behind the seal. Application of quenching from an external source (vapour, gas, liquid) to remove deposits, which may be required to prevent solids from accumulating on the atmospheric side of the seal. Typically used with a close-clearance throttle bushing or auxiliary seal. User should specify the characteristics of quenching medium.
