Application of pressurized barrier liquid external tank to feed clean liquid to the gland box; circulation is forced and maintained by internal pumping ring (or ”thermosiphon”). Barrier liquid pressure (in the tank) is higher than sealed process pressure in the gland box. Characteristics of the barrier liquid should be defined, to keep the operating conditions of sthe lide ring faces of the seal stable. Solution typical for double seals.
LEGEND - CIRCULATING SYSTEMS acc. to API 682 (610)
Standard flushing and auxiliary equipment systems presented above are the systems most often used in industry. The equipment presented here is the necessary minimum option and, after agreements made with the user, the systems below can be extended increasing their functionality.
Drawing on the left (A) shows diagrammatic arrangement of conduits and instrumentation, while the drawing on the right (B) shows the most important details of the stuffing box (the seal chamber).
